After 35 years in California, my husband and I sold our businesses, jumped on our sailboat in Annapolis and headed down the coast to Florida. Along the way, we bought a house in Fort Lauderdale and planned to slow down.
It didn't happen. After flying back to Denver in 2002 for a birthday party, we headed to Santa Fe, NM, and on the way through, stopped at the old AF Resort Real Estate office at the blinking light to use the "facilities." The rest is history. We bought two lots in the Resort and a house in Taos Pines Ranch and essentially changed plans on the spot. My husband had grown up in NM and had always wanted to come back.
I remember crossing the CO border and coming into NM. There was not a car on the road all the way to Angel Fire. I'm in heaven here. Where else can you get a slice of the Old Wild West, ski on the spur of the moment, hike in the Carson National Forest, and drive to Taos for dinner?
More importantly, I am a serious full-time Realtor. I take the time to belong to organizations that keep me in touch with not only what is happening now in Angel Fire, but in the State of New Mexico. I spend a lot of time keeping my technical skills current since much of Real Estate is conducted over the Internet now, and if I fall behind, it affects you both as a buyer and seller.
